Over the last decade, Steers has worked collaboratively to create free-standing installation objects that mirror key elements from each film. These objects accompany her films in museum and gallery exhibitions. Joining the invented three-dimensional pieces with embedded film loops, she creates an unexpected context for experiencing her films and extends their metaphorical power.

“Stacey Steers: Night Reels”
The Project Room
George Eastman Museum, Rochester, New York

Installed in the Project Room of this prestigious institution, “Night Reels” included installation objects and preparatory collages from all three collage films: Edge of Alchemy, Night Hunter, and Phantom Canyon. The full-scale films were continuously screened throughout the exhibition in an adjacent auditorium. Designed by GEM to suggest a human-scale cabinet of wonders, the exhibition was both intimate and enveloping. Curated by Nick Marshall and Gordon Nelson. Objects fabricated by Michael Schliske, Steamboat Woodworks.
