Over the last decade, Steers has worked collaboratively to create free-standing installation objects that mirror key elements from each film. These objects accompany her films in museum and gallery exhibitions. Joining the invented three-dimensional pieces with embedded film loops, she creates an unexpected context for experiencing her films and extends their metaphorical power.

A survey of all three collage films, the exhibition, curated by artist Kim Dickey, featured three distinct “rooms” separated by scrims, one for each film project. The full-scale films screened alongside corresponding installation objects presented in tandem to suggest a conversation between the project elements. The curation allowed for an enveloping, dynamic, and fulsome presentation of the projects. Objects fabricated by Michael Schliske, Steamboat Woodworks.
